Should the west interfere?

Posted by rovermadman on August 4th, 2008

We have a situation where the Iranians are developing nuclear enrichment programs and the countries of the west are jumping up and down trying to stop them.
What next? Will the west again invade a country simply because it doesn’t agree with it’s policies or government?
How can the countries who have nuclear capability tell another country that they cannot have the same right?
Would it not be better for the nuclear capable nations to lead by example and scrap their own nuclear weapons so that there is no longer a need for them.
It’s a “mines bigger than yours” syndrome that the world can do without.
The west states that these nations cannot be trusted with nuclear weapons but at the end of the day only one nation ( from the WEST) has actually used them in anger.
Lastly, what has happened every time the west has invaded a country because it disagreed with it’s policies?
In every case the people of that country have ended up worse off and the cost to the invaders has been astronomical.
What do you thin? Should the west interfere or live and let live?
Can the countries of the west be trusted any more than others not to abuse nuclear weapons?
